2023年6月7日（水）日本時間の18:00～19:00、東洋大学とイギリスのヨーク・セント・ジョン大学の国際学生ミーティングをオンラインで開催しました。

今回は、ヨーク・セント・ジョン大学からは発表者3名、東洋大学からは発表者6名、一般参加者9名の合計15名が参加してくれました。

ヨーク・セント・ジョン大学の日本語担当教員1名と本学グリーンの挨拶で始まったイベントは、まずウォームアップ活動として、お互いの大学についてのクイズを出し合いました。例えばヨーク・セント・ジョンの学生は以下のようなクイズを出題しました。

On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (JST), the International Student Meeting (ISM) between Toyo University and York St John University in the UK was held online.

Three presenters from York St John University and 15 people from Toyo University (six presenters and nine general participants) participated.

The event started with greetings from a lecturer in charge of Japanese language classes at York St John University and Steven Green, a lecturer from Toyo University, followed by students quizzing each other on each university as a warm-up activity. The following are examples of the quizzes given by the students from York St John University.

その後、参加者はブレイクアウトルームに分かれ、それぞれ自己紹介、自分の大学と学生生活について5分のプレゼンテーションを行いました。 プレゼンテーションやその後のQ&Aを通じて、日本とイギリスで暮らす学生たちの互いの生活を理解することができ、親交が深まりました。 この日ヨーク・セント・ジョン大学からは、秋から東洋大学に留学が決定している学生も参加していました。留学前の有益な情報交換の場となったことでしょう。

After the activity, the participants were divided into breakout rooms, where they introduced themselves and gave a five-minute presentation about their university and student life. Through each presentation and the Q&A that followed, the students from both Japan and the UK were able to understand each other's lives and deepen their friendship. The participants from York St John University included students scheduled to start studying at Toyo University this fall. The ISM must have served as a useful opportunity for them to exchange information before studying abroad.
