2022年11月5日（土）に、東洋大学とインドネシア・ダルマプルサダ大学との国際学生ミーティングが開催されました。

国際学生ミーティング（Online Student Meeting）は、コロナ渦における新しい国際交流の形として、東洋大学と世界の協定校の学生をオンラインで結び実施されているものです。ミーティングではテーマが設定され、参加者は事前に準備した内容をもとに自由に意見交換を行います。

第6回目となる今回は、「文化・社会の違いを考える」というテーマのもと、それぞれのグループでインドネシアと日本の違いを理解するためのテーマが設定され、計48名が参加しました。小テーマとしては、「マナー（床に座る習慣）」「学生アルバイトの是非」「小中学校の始業時間」「学生のランチ事情」「交通ルール」「学校のスポーツ行事」が設定され、発表者はタスクシートを使って事前に調べたことを発表し、自由に意見交換を行いました。

The International Student Meeting(ISM) between Toyo University and Darma Persada University was held online on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

As a new form of international exchange during the novel coronavirus pandemic, the ISM is held with students from Toyo University and its partner universities around the world connected online. Themes were set for the Meeting, and participants freely exchange opinions based on a preliminary study.

The theme of the 6th Meeting, in which a total of 48 students participated, was “Considering differences in culture and society.” In addition, sub-themes to understand differences between Indonesia and Japan were set for each group. Under the sub-themes of “Manners (habit of sitting on the floor),” “Pros and cons of student part-time jobs,” “Elementary and junior high school starting times,” “Student lunch situation,” “Traffic rules” and “School sports events,” leaders presented what they had studied in advance using task sheets, and then participants freely exchanged their opinions. 

中国やモンゴルからの留学生も多く参加しており、あるグループでは、インドネシア、中国、モンゴルでの違いなど、お互いの国の事情の比較をしながら、お互いの社会文化についての理解を深めていきました。小中学校の始業時間は、インドネシアが6：00であるのに対し、モンゴルは8：00で日本は9：00であること、また、日本では小学生が集団登校をするのに対し、海外ではバスや公共交通機関で通学するという違いから学校の校則の違いへと話が進み、お互いに新しい発見があったようです。 

Participants included many international students from China and Mongolia. In one group, participants deepened their understanding of each other’s society and culture, comparing the situations of each other’s countries, including differences among Indonesia, China and Mongolia. At first, participants talked about the differences under the themes. For example, the starting time of elementary and junior high school in Indonesia is 6:00 a.m., while it is 8:00 a.m. in Mongolia and 9:00 a.m. in Japan, and elementary school students in Japan go to school in groups, while those in foreign countries commute by school bus or public transportation. And then, they discussed differences in school regulations, and from this, it appeared that both sides made new discoveries. 

最後に、メインルームで各グループのリーダーが話し合いの結果について報告し、ダルマプルサダ大学のアマング・ヒデキ先生、本学国際教育センター長の髙橋一男先生より講評がありました。過去6回のミーティングを通じて、お互いの社会や文化についての理解が深まったことから、今後はその背景にある文化的価値観の違いについても興味を持ち、考えを深めていってほしいこと、また、今後も学生主体のミーティングとして交流を継続してもらいたいというお話がありました。 

Finally, the leaders of each group reported the results of the discussions in the main room, and Hideki Amangku, an instructor at Darma Persada University, and Professor Kazuo Takahashi, Director of the Center for Global Education and Exchange, Toyo University, made some comments. Concluding that the students were able to deepen their understanding of each other’s society and culture through the Meeting, which has so far been held six times, they expressed their hope that the students will become interested in, and deepen their understanding of, the differences in cultural values that lie in the background of society and culture, and that the international exchange will be held continuously as a student-centered meeting.
