Ms Yuri Tanuma awarded a prize for best poster presentation
An international conference; NanoteC18, was held at the university of Sussex, UK from 29th August to 1st September 2018. Ms Yuri Tanuma; a master candidate of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary New Science, won a prize for best poster presentation. She was one of three winners during the four day conference.
Y. Tanuma, T. Uchida and T. Maekawa, Isolation and characterisation of FeCl-fullerene complexes, NanoteC18, University of Sussex (2018), Brighton, UK.
The purpose of her study is to synthesise smallest magnetic nano particles intercalating magnetic molecules such as FeCl and FeClH into C60 molecules. She successfully synthesised FeClHC60 particles by arc discharge, which attracted quite a few participants’ attention. The present nano particles may well be actively utilised in the fields of nano electronics and nano biotechnology.
Lady Margaret Kroto, who was specially invited to the conference celebrating its 20th anniversary, awarded the prize to Ms Yuri Tanuma at the ceremony.
