Indian School Students Educational Tour to Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre
Toyo University's Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre hosted a student tour on November 7, 2023, for 50 students from Government Schools in Tamil Nadu, accompanied by teachers and officials from the Tamil Nadu School Education Department. The tour, coordinated by Dr. Vivekanandan Palaninathan with BNERC, Toyo University, in collaboration with Mr. Prasanna Parthasarathy (Japan Tamil Professional and Expat Network), was designed to inspire and ignite the students' passion for science and technology. During the event, Dr. Vivekanandan Palaninathan provided a simple introduction to the field of nanotechnology for the visitors, and this was followed by a team of experts from BNERC, who introduced the students to advanced nanotechnology equipment such as electron and confocal laser scanning microscopes, quantum dots, and cell culture applications. The experts included Dr. Hirokazu Shimoshige (TEM), Dr. Shunji Kurosu (SEM), Dr. M. Sheikh Mohammed (Quantum Dots & Cell Culture), Dr. Toru Mizuki (Confocal Microscopy) and Dr. Vimal Kumar (Clean room). The students were captivated and left with a newfound appreciation for the possibilities that lie ahead in the field of science and technology. The tour was a resounding success, and the students left with a sense of excitement and eagerness to learn more. The Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre at Toyo University is committed to nurturing and inspiring the next generation of scientists and researchers, and this tour was just one of the many initiatives aimed at achieving this goal under the top global university project by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
