Mr Mukesh Kumar, a doctoral student of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, visited the Bio-Nano Electronics Research Centre to carry out his Ph.D work with BNERC researchers.

Please introduce yourself and your university.

Hello! I am Mukesh Kumar. Presently, I am perusing doctoral degree in the physics department of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India. Prof. Vikram Kumar and Dr. Rajendra Singh are my supervisors for doctoral study who nourish my research career with their expertise in research field.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (popularly known as IITs) are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament for fostering excellence in education. Over the years IITs have created world class educational platforms dynamically sustained through internationally recognized research based on excellent infrastructural facilities. The vision of IIT Delhi is to contribute to India and the World through excellence in scientific and technical education and research; to serve as a valuable resource for industry and society; and remain a source of pride for all Indians.

What is your recent research topic?

My resent research topic is Gallium Nitride based nanowires. Gallium Nitride (GaN) is a wide band gap nitride semiconductor. GaN nanowires have attracted extensive research interest for their exceptional properties and have large number of applications particularly in various optoelectronic devices. The potential of GaN based materials can be realized according to recent Nobel Prize in this material field.

What is your motivation to do research?

In my opinion, excellence in scientific research can be achieve through sharing the scientific knowledge and experience between the international researcher which can lead the human community on the earth into new era of technology (like advance research in nanotechnology) with human values.

Please tell us about your life in India.

My native place is in Haryana, 150 km far away from Delhi. Presently I am residing in Gurgaon near to Delhi. India is a place where people of different religion, different cultural, different language (you may find language difference in just few km away in local regions) are live together, work together. I am one of them.

Always open to research ideas and exchange scientific knowledge among international researcher which can shape your research carrier.

What's it like to do research at the BNERC?

First of all, I would like to thank the Prof. Toru Maekawa and Prof. Sakthi Kumar who gave me the opportunity to do research in BNERC and mentoring my research through their research expertise. They are my source of inspiration to do advance research. State-of-art facilities particularly for nanotechnology research field at BNERC, easy access or availability of each facility to researcher for their research problem, team work among the researcher and finally the help, support, respect to each-other from BNERC staff members and researcher like the most to do research at the BNERC.

What is your dream and goal regarding research?

My dream or goal regarding research is to contribute the scientific knowledge from my life through research which can help the human life in this universe in any way.
