The Torrington Public Schools have been recognized as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in America for 21 years by the NAMM Foundation. Torrington has received this national designation more than any other community in Connecticut and one of only two school districts in the United States to receive this national designation for 21 years.

The Torrington High School Music Technology program was featured at the 2018 Audio Engineering Society High School Audio Educators Conference in Boston, MA.

THS Music Technology has been nationally recognized as a model program. The curriculum for THS has been presented at national conferences, included in numerous books and is used by schools from across the United States, Canada, Australia and Costa Rico.

Torrington Middle School 6th Grade, 7th & 8th Grade and Chamber Orchestra each have received "Gold Metals" at local festivals for 2017, 2018 & 2019.
