Meet Scanley... Each month is a new theme. Scanley plans fun challenges/games and gives prizes.
May was National Get Caught Reading Month
Mrs. Aurigemma, AKA Ms. A, comes up with great ways to incorporate "fun" in the library. In May, she did a school-wide reading challenge with our 7th and 8th graders. The raffle prizes were amazing and really encouraged students to take a chance on a book. Many students were excited to try a new book.

Our Mission:
The TMS Library Media Center's mission is to foster students' love of reading, provide access to quality material, and ensure the development of informational literacy skills necessary to become critical and ethical users of ideas and information.
Student Library Vistis:
Library classes occur 3-4x a week per trimester for all 7th graders. Students learn lessons tied to the AASL and the ISTE Standards for Students. These guidelines are centered around information literacy, technology, and literature appreciation.
-AASL: American Association of School LibrarIes
-ISTE: International Society for Technology in Education
The Hub of the School:
Our media center is a place where curiosity and problem solving are encouraged. Located on the 3rd floor with beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and comfy seating.
Our classroom area, has natural light, so we keep the lights dim and let in the sun with wide open shades. Our library media center is the focal point for pleasure reading, information seeking, knowledge building, and relaxing in a quiet atmosphere.
If you wander in on a random day, you might see...
Students sitting in the comfy seating area, reading a book.
Students using fidgets, building, or working and mind-bending puzzles.
Students interacting, playing games or building.
Students in the classroom area listening to a Google Play audiobook
Students engaged in a lesson or activity linked to digital well-being
Groups meeting in our 2 back offices.
A student at a window table, visiting the lbirary for a quiet place to do classwork
Students taking a 5 minute break to decompress and "recharge their battery"
*You might hear a Google Play book on audio with a class full of students listening. We just finished "Restart" by Gordon Korman and are now listening to "Schooled" by the same author.
We have one motto in the library...
POSITIVE VIBES ONLY for visitors.
Our Goals & Objectives:
-To expose students to a large variety of literature, with the goal of instilling a lifelong love of reading
-To provide unlimited accessibility to the media center for the entire school community throughout the school day.
-To lead students to use information effectively, creatively, and responsibly.
-To help students become literate in all things technology. (safety, privacy, digital well-being, consent, digital footprint, etc.
