CONTEXT

We have had the opportunity to demolish walls of prejudice against discrimination, among teachers and students of different countries which are dissimilar to one another and have different social, historical and cultural structures, thanks to our Erasmus+KA2 Project “Breaking Down Walls”

When we went through the broken walls, we realized that different individuals, cultures and societies are not a threat and burden to other societies but a boon and wealth to the humankind. This recognition has provided us with big motivation to change our perceptions and know and explore each other much more closely. This motivation has led us to write our new project "Dance Across Musical Bridges" (DMB), which focuses on local dances and music of Spain, Turkey, Portugal, Italy and Latvia. The idea that those who sing songs are good people comes from the local Turkish bard Neşet Ertaş and we are deeply impressed. We also want to remind that dance and music have got the best of what is local and have the talent to combine local elements with universal ones, making people feel a sense of inclusion and that we are all part of the same Universe.

OBJECTIVES

The aims of the project DMB are to promote inclusion of all those who are different and also the development of basic skills and key competences.

DMB has the following specific objectives:

ACTIVITIES

There will be five short-term exchanges of pupils, dedicated to different aspects of the folklore and traditions of the five partner countries. Preparatory and follow-up activities will be developed before and after international meetings.

C1

ETWINNING AND DIGITAL TOOLS FOR IMPLEMENTATION AND DISSEMINATION OF DMB.  The aim of this LTT activity is to share the experiences on eTwinning and some digital tools with colleagues from partner schools and nearby schools in Valencia province.

C2

LET'S PLAY MUSICAL BRIDGES IN PORTUGAL. The focus of this activity is traditional musical instruments. Students will work on the different traditional musical instruments in multicultural groups, cooperatively, and they will create a digital storybook using 'mystorybook' web tool.

C3

LET'S DANCE ACROSS MUSICAL BRIDGES IN LATVIA. Students who will come together with their local dance costumes will meet the traditional costumes and dances of each region which are the most concrete samples of the heritage of these cultures for thousands of years. That is the main reason why we put dance in the centre of this meeting.

C4

LET'S SING ACROSS MUSICAL BRIDGES IN ITALY. All participants will sing together in the others' native languages, creating a miltilingual choir. This way, they can be a part of the others' musical culture.

C5

A WALK ACROSS THE WORLD HERITAGE OF VALENCIA.  Valencia is one of the cities of Spain, known because of their different awards of World Heritage. There is for instance the national natural park named “Albufera” and the festivity around the celebration of Saint Joseph. As both of them are very related to art, culture, music and theatre, we planned 5 days of activities related to these heritages.

C6

LET'S SEE THE OUTPUTS AND ENJOY TURKICH YOUTH FESTIVAL. Turkish Youth Festival is the festival which Turkey presently accepts the date of founder Atatürk’s arrival in Samsun which is a symbolic city in Turkey as the starting date of the Turkish War of Independence. By attending festivals, participating students will be part of the enthusiasm of Turkish Youth on their special day. They will have the chance to present their folklore, dance and culture.

METHODOLOGY

Tasks to be carried out or presented at international meetings will be prepared beforehand by all partners and published on TS. During students exchanges multicultural groups will accomplish activities cooperatively using creativity and digital tools. After meetings follow-up activities at each school are developed and disseminated.

Here you have the QR to access to the Dance Across Musical Bridges Padlet which includes the previus activities and results of each activity carried out. Besides you can found the photos and videos reflecting all the work done, as well as dissemination samples of the project.
