Financial Algebra

1 Occupational or 3rd Year Math or Elective credit

Pre-requisite:

10th-12th grade students that have COMPLETED Geometry (students interested in business preferred)

Continue down the business pathway with Financial Algebra. Financial Algebra is only available to Juniors and Seniors who are currently interested in Business or other related fields.

Financial Algebra is an advanced level mathematics course that explores business concepts through algebraic formulas. By taking Financial Algebra, you will be completing a Stock Market Portfolio as your final project and focusing on the following concepts:

  • Banking Services
  • Consumer Credit
  • Automobile Ownership
  • Employment Basics
  • The Stock Market
  • Planning for Retirement
  • Preparing a Budget

This class can also be considered as a third-year math course (meaning you can replace Algebra II with Financial Algebra).

Financial Algebra is eligible for 5 credits through Yakima Valley College if class is successfully completed with a B or higher (83%). Can be obtained through Consumer Economics as well.

*Only available every other year (alternates with Consumer Economics)
