Course Description
Basic principles of plant growth; physiology, soil preparation, crop establishment and management, pests and controls, harvest, storage and marketing. History and importance of plants for food, feed, fiber, medicine. Includes practical experience in greenhouse operations: cultivating fruits, vegetables, ornamentals and other plants which may be used in natural resources/conservation.

Students completing Greenhouse Science will be able to do:
1. Use terms associated with horticulture, in oral and written terms.
2. Work as collaborative teams in a production environment.
3. Understand the difference of asexual and sexual reproduction of plants.
4. Take notes and keep a journal of the greenhouse projects.
5. Understand marketing and financial aspects of greenhouse business.
