Applied Engineering is a great course if you have a desire to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Math or related fields. Students desiring to pursue a career in Engineering or the construction trades are highly recommended to take this course.
Applied Engineering Mechanics will be a broad based course in mechanical aptitudes, and skill instruction over a range
of areas including safety and operation of power woodworking and metal working machinery. Use of CAM (computer assisted machining) such as CNC router or another CNC machine will be taught.Course work will entail OxyAcetylene welding and cutting skills, electrical theory and circuit construction, power machinery operation, and shielded metal welding skills.
This course will provide an excellent foundation of engineering and pre apprenticeship skills which can be coupled with mathematics and science courses to propel students toward additional technical training programs or enrollment in Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee programs or YV Tech courses. Students desiring to pursue a career in Engineering or the construction trades are highly recommended to take this course.
