Course Description

Carpentry will be a broad based course in mechanical aptitudes, and skill instruction over a range of areas including safety and operation of power woodworking machinery. The course will entail electrical theory, circuit construction, and power machinery operation. This course will provide an excellent foundation of pre-apprenticeship skills which can be coupled with mathematics and science courses to propel students toward additional technical training programs or enrollment in Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee programs. Students desiring to pursue a career in Engineering or the construction trades are highly recommended to take this course.



AGC256 CARPENTRY 3 – 1 occupational credit or 1 elective credit

Prerequisite: Instructor Permission Required

Primary focus will be on project fabrication as well as choosing a pathway to a post-secondary career, fully understanding the processes and procedures to qualify for gaining successful entry into Apprenticeship programs or Technical Schools.
