Top of Town Community Hub (TOTCH) is a group that helps distribute food that would otherwise go to waste, to people who will use it to provide meals at home.
We first started as a provider of “the Freezer of Love” an initiative supported by The Long Table. Since we have developed into a community hub providing a community café, fresh meals and activities for the community as well as providing surplus food for those who need it.
We are also a part of the Network of Stroud Community Hubs (NoSCH). An organisation that works with other community hubs in Stroud, including Middle of the Hill community hub, Trinity rooms and The Octagon in Pagenhill.
Our Objectives
1. To provide an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone in the community.
2. To encourage companionship and conversation by offering refreshments and snacks during our Tuesday morning café, Tuesday evening ‘Chop and Chat’ and our Saturday morning café.
3. To redistribute food from various sources that would otherwise be wasted and encourage donations to enable the hub to continue its work.
4. To provide clean, pre-loved clothing for adults and children.
5. To provide visitors with toys and books available to swap or loan.
6. To provide Hygiene products
7. To provide opportunities for connection and a place to socialise, to individuals who live alone.
8. To provide information and signposting to organisations that can help with a variety of issues someone could face in times of hardship. Including:
a. Financial advice/assistance
b. Support and Advice for Domestic abuse, Bullying and Harassment, including Online bullying and harassment.
c. Legal advice for work, financial or personal related matters.
