Thank you for being part of this community – and now, especially, for providing a review of AI and the New Oz!
Let’s break this into two sections:
The mechanics of entering the review online. We’ll cover Amazon, but other platforms operate similarly.
Suggestions for helpful things to include in a review.
If you have an active Amazon account (spent more than $50 in the last year) and bought AI and the New Oz on Amazon, then it’s super easy.
Log into your Amazon Account. Go to Account Details at the top of the site and click Account & Lists > Your Account > Your Orders. (Or just click Returns & Orders on the top right menu line for a list of the latest orders you've placed.)
2. In the list of items you’ve ordered, find the order for AI and the New Oz and select Write a product review.
3. Answer the questions in the “Create Review” dialog box:
Choose how many Stars you want to give the book.
Five stars is the highest rating and one star is the lowest rating.
Create a Headline. Something easy… for example:
AI doesn’t have to be difficult
AI and the New Oz helps us put people first in this huge shift
Leaders looking for inspiration should start here
This book effectively educates about AI current events AND how to lead through these changes
3. [Optional] Upload a fun Photo or Video with the book.
4. The Written Review
Ideas and suggestions for this are in the next section.
5. SUBMIT!
Very very important! I've forgotten to do this before…
You can still leave a review on Amazon if you didn't directly purchase the book. Just locate the product page of the book and scroll all the way to the bottom, to the "Customer reviews" section.
Below the aggregated ratings graph will be a button labeled "Write a Customer Review."
Yep. Amazon generally takes 24-48 hours before they publish the review. Otherwise, you're golden. And you've done an tremendous service to help the author (me!) and other readers understand what the book is about and if they will enjoy the experience of reading it.
Suggestions to consider...
Don’t over-think what you write. It boils down to this:
Did you like the book?
What was your favorite part or most valuable takeaway?
Would you recommend it?
These questions may be helpful angles to write your review:
What did you like about AI and the New Oz? (concepts, stories, new things learned, etc.)
How would you describe AI and the New Oz to a friend?
How will you use something you learned in AI and the New Oz? (at work, school, or with your other networks)
Examples:
It’s great to finally have a book that speaks to those of us who are not engineers. I feel empowered now, realizing this is about my processes and I own the decisions about how to help my teams elevate their work.
I’m glad someone is writing about caring for how our teams are reacting to this. We still need to move forward, but we can do it with compassion. The examples of modern leaders coupled with Oz leadership traits is very memorable.
Tonya’s stories about owning our processes and our own history were just as important as the backdrop of AI. We all need to champion each other as we move forward and “AI and the New Oz” gave us many suggestions for that.
I loved the focus on modern day leadership stories – so many, all in one place. The end of chapter playbooks for each leadership trait will be very useful in the coming months to jog my memory about things I can try out with my teams when we need a fresh idea.
Or use these fill-in-the-blank sentences as thought starters:
I liked the chapter about [insert topic] because it made me think about my [idea, team, future, leadership style, job] and how I can improve that now.
Reading “AI and the New Oz” reminded me about [insert your thoughts]. After reading this book, I was inspired to [insert what you’re now committed to do].
I enjoyed how Tonya described [insert something you benefited from] but I wish there would have been more information about [insert a request or feedback about what would have made the book more useful or complete].
If you liked the book [insert other book name], you’ll love “AI and the New Oz” because [insert your reason for comparing it to the other book].
And again, these reviews mean so much for all authors – but especially for new authors who are building their community. THANK YOU for being part of this movement and for taking valuable time to leave your important feedback for other prospective readers. #onwardandupward
