I can't believe winter is upon us! The fall semester flew by. We hope you had a great one!
The Teacher Center is excited to unveil our Winter/Spring course offerings! All are FREE and fully asynchronous, with the exception of one in-person course, designed to provide maximum flexibility and allow you to learn at your own pace, from the comfort of home. Registration is now open! *Please follow your district’s approval and registration procedures to ensure any monetary compensation.
And as always, we offer a variety of special services including poster making and laminating, FREE of charge. Please use this form if ordering services (posters or lamination) via email. Posters can be mailed directly to your building!
If there are any other programs or services that may help you, please do not hesitate to contact me or your Policy Board representative. We are here for you!

ABOUT THE TONAWANDA/GRAND ISLAND CENTER
The Tonawanda/Grand Island Teacher Center, TGITC, services the Grand Island and City of Tonawanda School Districts. Grand Island is a suburban district and Tonawanda is a small city district both of whom report demographic changes with an increased number of English Language Learners (ELL), specifically students who speak Arabic as their native language. Our Center serves approximately 550 teachers, teacher aides and administrators. There are approximately 5,800 students.

The mission of the Center is to improve the education of students through on-going preparation of teachers, staff and parents. Program participants will continue to explore research-based teaching methods and professional skills and knowledge based on the New York Learning Standards.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NYSED TEACH REGISTRATION
Hi all. Some of you may be approaching your 5-year re-registration period for the NYSED TEACH system. I have attached a document which explains what should happen as you approach your deadline to re-register. Basically, you will receive an email from NYSED to remind you to re-register and attest to your 100 CTLE hours. However, you should confirm that TEACH has your current email as they will send it to the email they have on file. Please refer to the document for complete details. Since beginning the program in 1984, the Teacher Centers have become a vital and essential institution for teacher growth. Our mission is simple: provide high-quality professional learning opportunities for educators to enrich their teaching practice and improve student learning and achievement. With our 126 Teacher Centers and 7 regional networks, the NYSTC Network is continuously working towards meeting the current needs of our diverse student population living in an ever-changing global environment.
Because organizations grow and prosper by learning from their own work, the New York State Teacher Centers have undertaken the responsibility of setting standards for professional development practice. Through their collaborations with one another, school districts and other educational and community organizations, the Centers have provided sustained, immediate, cost-effective and efficient professional development for educators.
