Dr. David Surdovel has experience in a multitude of educational settings at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels in both suburban and urban settings in New York, including positions of mathematics teacher, instructional coach, academic dean, academic liaison, and adjunct graduate lecturer in the New York City Department of Education and The City College of New York. Dr. Surdovel was recognized for his service to public education in 2007 with the Phi Delta Kappa/Pace University Leo Weitz “Master Teacher” Award. Since moving to Texas, he has held positions of Instructional Specialist of Secondary Mathematics and Social Studies, Coordinator of K-12 Mathematics, Executive Coordinator of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and currently as the Director of Mathematics and Curriculum Management for Tomball Independent School District. He has also held the position of Austin Community College Site Supervisor, President of the Austin Area Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Vice President of the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics (TASM). In 2010, Dr. Surdovel was recognized for his efforts as the Manor Independent School District “Shining Star” Professional Employee of the Year Award for leading efforts to turn around an underperforming campus. In 2022, Dr. Surdovel was recognized with the TASM Tommy Glover Eads Excellence in Mathematics Leadership Award. Dr. Surdovel received his B.A. (2003) from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and his M.S. (2006) and M.Ed. (2007) degrees from Pace University in New York, New York. Dr. Surdovel graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri in May 2026 with an Ed.D. in K-12 Leadership with a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) certificate. He completed his Curriculum Management Audit training through Curriculum Management Systems, Inc. in 2015 and served on audits in Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington. Through Mr. Surdovel's leadership over the past ten years, Tomball ISD teachers have been recognized seven times as Houston Astros & Conoco Phillips Math Teachers of the Month (including two Grand Prize Winners) and three times as state finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).
Dr. Haley Galyean is a dedicated leader in mathematics education, currently serving as the District Math Coordinator in Tomball ISD. She completed her Doctorate of Education at Vanderbilt University in 2025 and brings experience from both the classroom and district leadership roles. Haley is deeply passionate about advancing high-quality mathematics education for all students and firmly believes that mathematics is for everyone. She is committed to ensuring equitable access to rigorous, research-based instruction and to supporting teachers and leaders in delivering meaningful learning experiences. Her work is grounded in building authentic relationships with stakeholders across campus and district levels, from teachers and campus teams to district leadership and beyond.
Haley regularly presents at professional conferences and holds several leadership roles both in Texas and at the national level, including Vice President of the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics (TASM), Inspiration! Editor and Marketing Chair for the National Council for Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM), and previously served as Vice President of the Houston Math Leadership Network (HMLN). She strives to ensure that every student, regardless of background, has the opportunity to engage deeply with mathematics in ways that are both impactful and empowering. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her high school sweetheart husband, her 10-year-old son, 6-year-old daughter, and their three dogs.
Ann Butts is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She completed her Master of Science in Education in Illinois at Olivet Nazarene University in Curriculum and Instruction. She studied with Dr. Anita Copely, working on a Mathematics Collaborative team while she taught in Houston Independent School District. She is a member of the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics, and the Texas Council for Teachers of Mathematics. She has taught in a variety of educational settings in Michigan, Illinois, and Texas. Her love of foundational concepts in mathematics helps her inspire both students and Teachers. She has served as a classroom teacher for 11 years, as an Elementary Campus Math Specialist at Tomball Elementary for 8 years, and now works with all elementary campuses for the Tomball ISD Curriculum and Instruction Department.
Ashli Shreve serves as the 7th-12th grade math specialist and is a graduate of Sam Houston State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master's degree in Educational Administration. She joined Tomball ISD in 2013 and previously worked at Willow Wood Junior High School where she served as the math department chair, teacher, and curriculum writer. Ashli is in her 15th year in education overall, previously working as a math teacher in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. She is a member of the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics, and the Texas Association of School Administrators.
