IMPACT TESTING CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT
ImPact Testing (Concussion Management)
Tolland High School provides neuropsychological testing in the form of ImPact Testing. Each student athlete is tested one time in their four years at Tolland High School. Your son/daughter takes a computerized test before the start of their sport in the fall, winter or spring. It is required by Tolland High School for each student to have a baseline test before they play sports.
The ImPact Test is a computerized test. The students will take the test in the library. The first test is a baseline test. We use the baseline test as a comparison for the post-injury test, if needed. The test takes about 45 minutes to complete. If an athlete sustains a concussion during their sports career at Tolland High School a comparison is made between the baseline test and the post-injury test. This is used to assist in making return to play decisions. A concussion needs to be diagnosed by a trained medical professional before the ImPact Test can be taken.
Dr. Daniel Veltri reviews the ImPact Test and assists the ATC in making return to play decisions. The ImPact Test is emailed to the physician that day. For any other questions please contact Supervisor of Athletics Tim McCluskey tmccluskey@tolland.k12.ct.us
