COURSES

Art Foundations

Can be taken anytime, but suggested for Freshmen. This is a great introductory course to learn a variety of art media, criticism, and art history.

Drawing

Prerequisite: Art Foundations.

This class is for those who want to develop their observational and non-observational drawing skills, gain experience with drawing media, and prepare for Painting.

Painting

Prerequisite: Art Fdtns & Drawing

Students will continue to develop their two-dimensional skills while they learn how to use Watercolor, Tempera, Acrylic, and Oil paint. Students will develop a personal voice and aesthetic.

Photography

Art Foundations is strongly recommended before enrollment. This class teaches students about the elements of photography through a series of content-based lessons. This course is entirely digital, student will also learn how to use Photoshop.

Pottery

Art Foundations is strongly recommended before enrollment. Pottery is a fun, engaging course for those who like to work with their hands. Students learn handbuilding and sculptural techniques, and get an introduction to the Pottery wheel.

Sculpture

Art Foundations is strongly recommended before enrollment. Sculpture teaches students to think outside the box as they find solutions to three-dimensional challenges using a variety of traditional and unconventional materials.

AP Studio Art

AP Studio Art is for students interested in pursuing art at the college level, or those who want to develop a portfolio of individual artwork. Student must take Art Foundations, Drawing, and Painting before enrolling, must be willing to present a portfolio and statement before enrollment, and will need to be able to meet deadlines and work independently. This course prepares and guides students to create a visual investigation with written pieces that will be submitted to CollegeBoard for AP credit.
