Students will login each day to the Google Classroom for EACH CLASS (Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading & Writing).
There will be some sort of assignment or "check in" each day in order for the teachers to keep track of attendance. Some days it might be a simple google form that they need to click "Completed Task" for that day, as there may not be a full assignment each day.
Fridays: Catch-Up/Reteaching
If a student missed an assignment, is a little behind on an ongoing assignment or needs a bit of reteaching, this is the day for it!
If your student completed all assignments for the week, they are FREE for the day! (You can tell them they get an entire day for Fun Friday-they'll know what I mean :) )
Expectations for Parents:
Google Classroom Guardian Summaries:
Make sure you have signed up for these through filling out the Google Parent Contact Form (links below-ask your child which period they are in!)
**These reports will be relayed to the teachers so that we are aware of the absence.
Assisting & Help:
Your 6th graders are the LUCKIEST ones in the entire district, right now. They are so used to the chromebooks and utilizing Google Classroom thanks to the one-to-one initiative we started this year with their class. By now, they know how to navigate things for the most part.
They will be using some new websites/online tools, but to be quite honest, they adapt much quicker than we adults do! They have already been helping me troubleshoot/test things. I am confident we will be able to hit the ground running as soon as we begin lessons with the students.
I encourage you to check in & make sure students are staying on top of their assignments (this is where the Google Classroom Guardian Summaries will be helpful), but students should be completing assignments on their own. If your child is struggling on a particular assignment, please email me and let me know.
