The way we position ourselves within the vastness of the world is called our “worldview.” The Great East Japan Earthquake of March 2011 was an event that seemed to completely transform such worldviews.
What is necessary to overcome the present moment, where these worldviews are shaken?
I believe it is essential to revisit the origins of the things surrounding us, to reconsider their nature and structure without prejudice.
This lecture series, ‘A Cultural History of Men and Women,’ aims to provide solid ‘material’ for reconstructing our ‘worldview’ by examining ‘men’ and ‘women’—the fundamental elements constituting human society—and exploring questions like: What is humanity? What is society? What is history?
Each of the four weekly lectures explores these themes with thrilling and intellectually stimulating perspectives and techniques, aiming to recreate the ‘drama of men and women’ in a way never seen before. We hope it serves as a valuable reference for building your own worldview.
*This lecture series consists of the 1st session (May 2018), 2nd session (January 2019), 3rd session (January 2020), 4th session (September 2020), with some assignments modified.
