Anesthesia not only prevents patients from feeling pain during surgery but also eliminates stress and controls post-operative pain using techniques like nerve blocks. Anesthesia requires highly delicate skills and knowledge.
Conversely, when intensely focused during sports or in critical moments, one may not feel pain or the heat of flames. Conversely, without concentration, even minor stimuli can cause intense pain. What exactly is pain?
In this lecture, three anesthesiologists specializing in cutting-edge anesthesia research using genomic medicine, developing visualization techniques for nerve block injections, and pain clinic practice will explain pain and anesthesia. We hope this lecture sparks your interest in anesthesiology and becomes a step toward freedom from pain.
Week 1 concisely explains the basic knowledge of how the sensation of pain travels from the skin or internal organs to the brain. It also introduces the relationship between pain and stress, and the mechanisms by which pain can intensify or diminish.
Week 2 explains general anesthesia and regional anesthesia, which are representative methods of anesthesia. It further introduces the essence of anesthesia as the difficulty of managing the entire body.
Week 3 explains medical approaches to pain, using various diseases as examples. It also highlights the challenges and peculiarities of pain relief in conscious patients.
Week 4 presents the future of pain relief and anesthesia. We invite you to consider the future of medicine based on our research and initiatives.
