Aobayama Shuttle Bus is a free bus service for students, faculty and staff, visitors of the University, and NanoTerasu users, etc. It can be used for transportation between campuses for commuting to work and school, lectures, extracurricular activities, official business, and the use of NanoTerasu.

2026.08.03
Due to the 57th Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 (19:30–20:30), service suspensions and route modifications will be in effect for certain bus routes as detailed below. Heavy traffic and congestion are expected around campus during the festival, which may cause bus delays. Please allow extra time when traveling.

17:50 – 19:10: Departing Aobayama Station to Botanical Garden Entrance (4 buses suspended)

Katahira ⇔ Kawauchi ⇔ Aobayama Route:
All buses will skip the Botanical Gardens bus stop.

Due to traffic restrictions caused by construction work at the new Aobayama Campus, the route of the Nano Terrace shuttle will be temporarily changed during the following dates.
Please note that there will be no changes to the bus stops or the schedule.

Due to an increase in bear sightings around the campus, Tohoku University will be temporarily increasing the number of campus buses to ensure the safety of students and faculty during transit starting from Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Buses may be delayed due to traffic conditions. This page will be updated in the event that the bus is cancelled or delayed for more than 15 minutes.
|Congestion Information
Please be aware that the bus routes may experience significant congestion. We recommend preparing ample travel time or utilizing alternative public transportation to mitigate delays. Kindly note that adverse weather conditions may lead to increased ridership and crowding.
