TCMS JUNIOR RESERVES TRAINING CORP
As a parent, you want the best opportunities for your child’s growth and success. JROTC offers much more than textbook learning—it provides a safe, structured environment where your child can take on real responsibility, develop leadership, build confidence, and strengthen teamwork skills. Our main goal is to help your child grow as both a leader and an individual, while supporting their character and potential every step of the way.
Cadet Lieutenant Colleen Hammarsten supported the Todd County Chamber dinner. JROTC Cadets conduct community service as part of their curriculum.
TCMS Cadets learn drill and ceremony (DNC) rifle drills from TCCHS cadets. TCCHS cadets mentor TCMS cadets throughout the school year.
JROTC is a class your child can take during the school day, but its impact extends far beyond the classroom. Through JROTC, students explore topics such as history, government, technology awareness, and current events. Most importantly, the program is designed to help your child build leadership, develop college readiness, and gain career skills—including effective study strategies, test-taking techniques, and tools that support their long-term success.
In addition to teams and extracurriculars, JROTC provides your child with a wide range of hands-on activities in the classroom. Students participate in marksmanship training, archery, drone operation, and critical thinking challenges, all designed to give them real-world skills and memorable experiences.

Established by Congress in 1916, Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (Army J.R.O.T.C.) has demonstrated over the decades that the program works. JROTC cadets typically graduate at higher levels than the school as a whole. Principals, parents, and former cadets consistently endorse the positive impact JROTC has on the school, the community, and the cadets themselves.

Your child will enjoy a supportive classroom environment where they can grow, make friends, and learn valuable life lessons.
JROTC is an elective that prepares students for life, not the military. JROTC combines classroom instruction with extracurricular activities to increase students' awareness of the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizenship. The program also builds life skills and provides leadership opportunities to the cadets by allowing them to be in leadership positions.
"We love having Mrs. Fagan as the JROTC instructor! She is absolutely fantastic with the kids and truly cares about their success. It is more than just a class; she teaches them valuable life skills that they will use forever. Her dedication goes far beyond the classroom. She takes the time to truly understand each student and helps them reach their full potential. We are incredibly grateful for the positive impact she is making on our children's lives and future success."
