The Chris Jolly Cruise Cat boat trip, is a 90 minute trip on the lake heading towards the rock cravings. Along the 90 minutes the boat driver says a lot about the Maori Legends, and facts about Lake Taupo itself. The crew on board also give out some muffins and you can help yourself to some hot drinks when on board.
When we left the marina it took us about 25-30 minutes to get to the rock cravings. When we did it was very nice out there except for the occasional ruff waves crashing upon the cravings. One of the crew members did say some facts about the rock cravings when we were there. On the way back the crew members handed out some smoked trout on crackers. We also did some fishing for rainbow trout - we only caught one. Where we fished was along the coastline of Acacia Bay point.
I would rate the Chris Jolly Cruise Cat trip an 8/10 probably because when we went on the water was a bit ruff and caused some of us to feel a bit sea-sick. So I would recommend making sure when you book that the water is causing some waves. Otherwise, the trip was really good, and would recommend the trip.
