College of Oral Medicine's 5-minute English speech contest is now open for registration!
Designed to enhance students' English communication skills and professional knowledge, providing them with a platform to showcase their abilities!

This 5-minute English speech contest invites you to explore the vital role of oral medicine in oncology. Join us in discussing how our expertise and empathy can empower cancer warriors to smile and thrive once more.
This competition aims to enhance students' confidence in presenting their professional knowledge through English speeches on topics such as dental treatment techniques and oral health information. Participants are required to prepare a 5-minute speech on the assigned topic to showcase their research findings and insights.
There are awards for both university and research division:
1st Place 🥇: NTD$12,000
2nd Place 🥈: NTD$8,000
3rd Place 🥉: NTD$5,000
Honorable Mentions 🏅: Several NTD$2,000

The number of awards may be adjusted based on the number of entries and performance. If entries do not meet the required standard, awards may be withheld.
The competition will be held on April 30th in the morning, with the awards ceremony on the same day. It will be divided into University Division and Research Division.
Participants will randomly draw a topic from the question bank designed by the departmental teachers and prepare a 5-minute speech, focusing on divergent thinking related to the topic. The topic will be sent to participants' registered email addresses within one working day after the registration deadline (3/31).
Including master's and doctoral students, participants are required to prepare a 5-minute speech on a topic related to their own research. After the speech, there will be a 1-minute Q&A session with the judges.
Judging Criteria: Evaluation of participants' performance in professional knowledge, speaking skills, organizational abilities, and influence.
Judging Committee:
The judging committee is composed of faculty from the College of Oral Medicine and instructors from the Language Center, including experts in English teaching and specialists in the field of oral medicine.
The judges will score based on criteria such as creativity, expressive ability, organizational skills of content, and fluency of language in the speech.
Originality and Creativity (40%):
The extent to which the speech content is creative and captivating.
Expression Skills (30%):
The proficiency of the speaker in language use and expression.
Content Organization (30%):
The ability to effectively integrate and present information, ideas, or concepts for easy understanding and digestion by the audience.
Expression Skills (40%):
The proficiency of the speaker in language use and expression.
Content Organization (40%):
The ability to effectively integrate and present information, ideas, or concepts for easy understanding and digestion by the audience.
Short Q&A (20%):
Participants will answer questions related to the speech content posed by the judges, demonstrating further understanding of the topic and the ability to answer questions.
