ART 299 THE POTTERS WHEEL

In this course we will be making specific types of utilitarian pottery: cups bowls, pitchers, vases, plates, etc. Each week we will look at contemporary and historical ceramics to help train our eye, develop techniques and familiarize ourselves with the field of pottery.

Making good pottery is very difficult, it take a lot of time and practice to master the skill to a level that we can express our ideas. This is an independent study class and is designed so students can work at their own pace. Grading will be on time put in on the wheel, research and process recording in the sketchbook, and informal critiquing of work.
