By 2030 is the compelling story of a post-apocalyptic, near future world following the devastating collapse of both climate and society which reshaped human existence, what we came to call the Great Collapse. Grounded in the aftermath of our current social and environmental dilemmas, and set against the backdrop of a stark, but somewhat hopeful future reality, we follow resilient survivors coping with loss, rebuilding their communities, and finding hope in their common bonds. Annie shares her knowledge of medicinal plants with other survivors as she adapts to her new work/home pod space, rarely leaving due to safety concerns. Her relationship with Sir Maxwell, a feline survivor, adds a touch of warmth and humanity. Annie's journey from isolation to finding new purpose is inspiring and hopeful.
Andy lives a strikingly different kind of life among people who opted out of living in the pods. They are rebuilding communities outside the pod sector. Left to their own devices, Andy and others living in these periphery areas are determined to build a better future, free from the control of a plutocratic police state.
By 2030 is a provocative call to action to engage in community dialogues about the future we are creating, and to begin planning for the possibilities of what may come after the imminent Great Collapse.
