and the 2023 game
FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” and is an organization dedicated to inspiring students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through challenges and competitions. Teams of students build a robot to compete at local, regional, and international competitions hosted around the world. FIRST is the brainchild of inventor and entrepreneur Dean Kamen, and it has grown from 28 teams in 1992 to more than 3,800 teams with more than 90,000 participating students. FIRST is changing the future of STEM and preparing more young people for a culture that relies heavily on technology.
First Robotics Competition (FRC) is for high school students and pushes the students to their limits. Teams have six weeks to design, build and program a large robot that can compete in a challenge.
This year's competition, presented by Haas, was created to inspire teams to see the potential of energy storage in a new light. This challenge involves lifting cones and cubes onto two levels, as well as a co-opertition™ bonus for links of cones and cubes. It also introduces a sloping pad where the robots can finish and gain even more points.
