Language Arts (Benchmark Advance)
Skills Covered: Reading, spelling, phonics, and writing.
Daily Practice: Students complete a daily journal prompt and a writing lesson. Lessons build over a three-week cycle, ending with a published final draft.
Friday Assessments: A traditional paper-and-pencil spelling test (covering the weekly pattern) and an online reading comprehension assessment.
Math (enVision Mathematics)
Structure: The curriculum is organized into 15 topics.
Test Preparation: Before each official topic test, a practice test will be sent home for review.
Student Support: In most cases, we proactively review missed practice problems with students in class to ensure they feel confident before the real exam.
Science (Little Science Thinkers)
Structure: Consists of 6 units, featuring 12 lessons per unit.
Assessments: Students complete a quick comprehension check after each lesson, ending with a comprehensive unit assessment.
Special Project: In January, we begin a special unit on habitats that culminates in an exciting class play!
Social Studies (Little Social Studies Thinkers)
Structure: Consists of 6 units, featuring 12 lessons per unit.
Assessments: Includes a quick comprehension check after every lesson and a final assessment at the end of each unit.
Bible (Positive Action)
Structure: We dive into one meaningful Bible story each week to build character and faith foundations.
Homework
To help reinforce what we learn in class, homework packets will be sent home every Friday and must be returned the following Friday. Each weekly packet contains:
10–15 Spelling Words matching our weekly spelling pattern.
A Reading Fluency Passage for practice at home.
Math Practice tailored exactly to the topic we are currently studying.
