Welcome to 4th grade with Mrs. Miller
Classroom Update
4/30/24
Iowa Testing is done and was a success. Your kids worked hard and I am proud of them! We will be sure to get you the results as soon as possible. This is just one test for each of the subjects and I need them (and you) to know that one single test is not always an accurate representation of the student-especially when they are nervous.
SACRAMENTO is one week from today! I sent an email recently with a rough outline of what our day will look like. That said, your child can either eat breakfast at home before they leave or pack an easy breakfast for them to eat on the bus. Again, we are leaving at 6:30 so being there a little earlier would be great. We will be getting dinner on the way home but, they will need to pack a lunch. Preferably healthy snacks and something with protein. Sugar will not be our friend that day 🙃. Mrs. Pitts and I are still discussing which electronics should be allowed on the bus. I will send you a follow up email about that once I gather the information. If you have any questions please do not hesistate to reach out.
May 10th is the school carnival be sure to order your wristbands to avoid the line! Danae sent an email out you will find the link there to order those wristbands!
Math- We will have a math test over Topic 16 either tomorrow or Thursday. A differrent, yet similar study guide will go home today.

It's time to gear up for a busy week in 4th grade! We have our field trip to the Mission on Thursday, we also have our Thanksgiving Party on Friday, and we have all of our regular academic stuff that we have to fit in as well before our week off, which starts a week from today!
San Juan Bautista Mission field trip is THIS THURSDAY! -
Please read this thoroughly as we have important information regarding the field trip here. We will be leaving school at 9:15 A.M. Please be sure your student is here on-time as, unfortuneatly, we will not be able to wait for tardy students. Please be sure your child has a sweatshirt, comfortbale shoes, a sack lunch, and a water bottle with them. We will not be back to school in time for lunch, therefore, they will not be able to get a hot lunch. Chaperones, I will be contacting you via email a little later today with important information specifically to you.
Thanksgiving Party-
Our Thanksgiving Party is THIS friday. I can not believe we are already having our Thanksgiving Party. It seems like just yesterday we were having our Harvest Party and there are still many ways to help and make it a success! The link for the Thanksgiving Party sign-up is here Please click on the word "here" and it will direct you to the SignUp Genius site. This is a busy time of year and there is a lot to sign up for! I appreciate all of your support so very much! It is a privilege to spend so much time with each and every one of your kids every day!

Math Test! - We will be having a end-of-topic-test on Tuesday, November 7th. This will cover our unit on the strategies used to solve for products of two-digit by two-digit multiplication. Our study guide went home Thursday so that they can study over the weekend as well as Monday night. We are going to use the online test this time, so the study guide will definitely help them but will not be as similar as past study guides have been to the test. Do not fret, however, the concepts on the study guide will be the same as the concepts on the test! I have complete and total faith in my students! They are becoming so much more confident in math and I am very proud of their growth!

Several of you already have a conference time and date and I will get you those dates a little later as well.
Matilda- a permission slip went out last week via google forms for our first field trip. Please be sure to find that email and get your student signed up today so that they are able to join us for the play!
Social Studies Test! Just a friendly reminder that our social studies test is TOMORROW! Please be sure that your student is continuing to study. I will be sure that the math homework is a little bit lighter tonight so that they can take a little extra time to study tonight.

Wow! Another week is gone! I trust you all had a great and restful weekend. A couple of important reminders. It is critically important that your child turn in their reading summaries! This is a large portion of their reading grade and as a result if the reading logs are not being turned in, unfortunately, their grades will reflect as such. If you have any questions regarding the reading logs please reach out-they are due every Monday.
DRIVE FOR SCHOOLS!
The kids (and parents) have done a great job selling those DFS tickets! Please keep up the great work! Please turn in any sold tickets and the money that goes along with. If you need more tickets they are available in the office or you child can ask me and we can get them more as well. Let's WIN this week's sales challenge!
Novel Study: Wonder
We will be closing this lovely story study soon. At the end of this book 4th grade always watches the movie and has a little "party" to celebrate our first novel study completion. I will send out an email with more details, but, if you do not want your child to watch this movie please let me know and we will find another activity for your child during this time.

A HUGE thank you to all of you who have purchased items from the wish list! Sometimes, there is not a note inside telling me who purchased the items. So, I will have to settle for a blanket "Thank you!" I would rather it be more personal, so if you did purchase items and did not necessarily want to be anonymous please give me a shout out! I really appreciate the generosity!
Here we are starting our 5th full week of school! Once again, please continue selling those Drive for School tickets! I have had several students ask me for more to sell, so, way to go! If you have already sold tickets be sure to bring the envelopes back to school as soon as possible.
We have all of the chaperones that are needed for Matilda! I do have some of you on a waiting list. The Mission San Juan Bautista field trip is coming in November. We do not have a limit as to the number of chaperones we have with us. So, if you are not able to join us for Matilda but would like to come to the San Juan Bautista Mission you are more than welcome to do so. I will be sending out an email in the next couple of weeks asking for chaperones as well as drivers for that trip. Welcome
Hello Families!! I am pleased to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I am looking forward to having your child as a student. Fourth grade is such a fun year with so many wonderful learning activities to celebrate. We will be working on showing kindness, teamwork, finding joy while learning, and having fun! One of my most important goals is to create a family of learners in my classroom. I am committed to creating a classroom environment where your child is a valued, trusted, and integral part of our family of learners. In order to accomplish this, I have planned a variety of activities to emphasize and reinforce this goal. It is my hope that you will support and encourage this vision at home. I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 22nd. I will be in the classroom to meet you from 1:00-2:30. Our Ice Cream Social will follow classroom visits from 2:30-3:00. See you soon!
