Hello families,

Today is our DFS (Drive for Schools) kick off! your kids came home with Gummy Bears as a kick-off-treat! You are able to purchase tickets online. If you would like to send the link to out-of-town family or friends please send them THIS link. Please be sure that they put your chiild's name on the ticket purchased so that it can be allocated to our classroom. We want some healthy competition and want to WIN! But, all in all, what matters is that we are earning money for our school to enrich your child's academic experience here at TLCS!

Your kiddos did GREAT on their math test! They are such a bright group of students who are eager to learn and do their best. It truly makes my job so much easier and we get to spend time doing fun things as a result of their diligence and dedication when it is needed!

Thank you for filling out the permission slip for Gizdich. If you have not done so, please do that HERE!

Gizdich Info!

Please be sure to send your child with a lunch and water bottle to the farm on the field trip day as we will NOT be back for hot lunch. Additionally, please have your child dress in layers because our weather is having an identity crisis and does not know which way to go! Gizdich also requires close-toed shoes. Everyone is welocme to join us. If you are not able to come please be sure you send your child's car seat to school that day!

I will make car assignments once I get all of the permission slips back. If you are chaperoning please be here at our classroom at 9:15 so that we can have you take your group to the bathroom and get car seats into cars!

You will be able to purchase both apples, juice, and baked goods at Gizdich. Should you decide to do that and you do not have another adult in your group  be sure that you have intentionally left somone else in charge of your group.

Please reach out with any further questions that you may have about our Gizdich field trip on Septmeber 25.

Eddie will go home with Kylie on Friday and will come back the following Friday.

Super Scientist bag will go home with Parker and come back the following Friday.

Star Student will be Hudson! I will send the poster home on Friday and he will bring it back Monday with his 5 share items!

Next week is Apple Week and it is going to be a fun-filled week!

Monday- Apple Activies and begin Apple Tasting

Tuesday-Apple activities and tasting.

Wednesday- Apple Pie making, tasting, and activities

Thursday-Gizdich Field Trip and more apple tasting

Friday-Apple slushies, apple tasting, and MORE apple activities!

I trust you had a restful and and fun-filled weekend! Your kiddos continue to bless me every single day. These students continue to be kind, respectful, thoughtful, helpul and SO much more! Kudos to all of you!

There seems to be confusion with one of the questions on the homework and rightfully so! On the back of the spelling list page is the last multiple choice problem. The words this week are: a. Little B. play  C. you. Your job is to give them a sentence out loud with only one of the three words. They will circle on their paper which word they hear you say. Hopefully that makes more sense! Please be sure when they write their own sentence that they are capitalizing the first letter in their sentence and using punctuation at the end. 

Apple week begins in TWO WEEKS! Woohoo! I will send out a sign up genius this week!

On Friday this week I will be sending home Eddie the Elephant with Kinsley. Please return it the following Friday.

On Friday this week I will be sending home the Super Scientist bag home with Cora. Please return the bag on Friday. 

On Friday this week I will be sending our Star Student poster and bag home with Miles please put 5 items to share in the bag. This comes back on MONDAY!

THIS FRIDAY is MOVIE NIGHT from 7-9. It is the Live Action Lilo and Stitch. I hope to see you there! It will be on the Lower Lot (where the green wall is.)

Your students continue to amaze me! They are kind, considerate, caring, respectful and so very bright! THIS FRIDAY morning 9/5/25 is our 1st Grade picture day!! Our pictures will be in the morning from roughly 8:55-9:15.  Please make every effort to have your kiddo here on time. That said, you guys have been so great about having your kids here on time! Bravo!!

Apple week is coming! Our fun begins on September 22nd and continues through September 26! This is a fun week where we will learn about Johnny Appleseed, taste different kinds of apples, do some fun apple activities and round off our week going to Gizdich Ranch! We wlll also be making pies and slushies. We will do pies AND slushies on Friday, September 25 in honor of Johnny Appleseed's birthday! I will be sending out a Sign-up Genius for all of the things that we will be needing for that soon!

Last year I found that we do not have ANY apple books in our 1st grade collection to read throughout the week. If you would like to purchase some for our classroom I have listed several that we would love to have on my Amazon Wish list. You can find that llink at the top of this page. Thank you in advance for getting these books for us!

I think I failed to mention at Back-to-School Night that the student will bring the Super Scientist Bag back on Friday and they will present their experiment to the class with a demontration Friday morning when they return the bag. You are more than welcome to stay and watch and or help them with this venture!

Hello First Grade Families!

We had a wonderful start, to what I can tell, is going to be a FANTASTIC school year! Your sweet kiddos are kind, respectul and very, very sweet! I feel like I am teaching in heaven!

We have taken some beginning-of-the-year Math, Reading, and Language Arts assessments. We have done some journal writing as well as some fun get-to-know-you activities. We discussed our class family and what that means and incorporated a project to go along with the topic. We read a book about a character who worries. Then we discussed our worries and the kids made a very cute art project that you will get to see next week! 

We started our Social Studies unit in which they are learning about being responsible citizens. The first lesson was about rules and why we have them. 

There has been so much more; those are just the highlights! No wonder your kiddos are exhausted at the end of the day! 😉

Upcoming event: Back-to-School Night is THIS THURSDAY, August 28th. We have two time slots available for you to come to our classroom. The first time slot is from 6-6:30. The other option is 6:45-7:15. If you have an older child in our Middle School and would like to attend that meeting it runs from 6:30-7:30.  In that case, you would want to be sure to come to the 6:00 with me in 1st grade! There will be a lot of information that will be helpful so we hope to see you there!

We have received so many great items from our wish list. Thank you so much for your generosity! Since our art project went so well today, I would love to do more of it! The water color sets we have are in sad shape. I have added a set of 24 water color paint boxes to that list should anyone be so inclined to help with those. Hello Parents,

I am looking forward to meeting you all today at our Meet and Greet! Please come anytime from 1-2:30. Just be sure to give yourself enough time for your sweet 1st grader to come in and meet the me and the support staff, get your supplies dropped off, and your kiddo time to get familiar with the classroom and ask any questions they may have before we close the door at 2:30 to get some ice cream!

We love volunteers here at TLCS! Above are the sign ups for P.E. and Art for the enitre school year. The center sign ups will be updated monthly. 

Volunteers for our upcoming Gizdich Ranch field trip will be coming soon! However, you can mark your calendar Gizdich Ranch on Septmeber 25th.
