"My Why"

My passion for education is deeply personal.

I grew up speaking only Spanish and learned English when I entered first grade. As a senior in high school, I became a mother—an experience that could have changed the course of my life. Instead, with the unwavering support of my parents, I was encouraged to keep moving forward, graduate, and remain focused on a college-bound future. They reminded me that my circumstances did not define my potential.

My son became one of my greatest motivations. He inspired me to keep dreaming, keep working, and build a life rooted in purpose and service. With the support of my family, I was able to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher and later fulfill my goal of becoming a school counselor. That journey taught me something I carry with me every day: obstacles do not have to close doors, and with support, perseverance, and belief, dreams can still be realized.

That belief is the foundation of my work with students.

I have always felt called to support and empower students—especially those considered at-risk—to see beyond their current circumstances and recognize the possibilities ahead of them. I want every student to know that their story is still being written, and no challenge, setback, or life circumstance has the power to define their future. There is always hope, always help, and always a path forward.

I believe strong relationships are at the heart of student success. When students feel seen, heard, supported, and valued, they begin to believe in themselves and their ability to achieve great things. My mission is to encourage, guide, and advocate for students so they can discover their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become successful contributors to their families, schools, and communities.

Everything I have lived and learned has shaped the way I serve. My “why” is rooted in advocacy, resilience, and the belief that every student deserves someone who will help them dream bigger than their current circumstances. I want my students to know they are capable, worthy, and never alone—and that in me, they will always have an advocate.
