Day 3. Otranto city. Visiting the Cathedral of Otranto dedicated to Annunciation of Virgin Mary. It has a big mosaic covering the whole floor created by artists from around the world. The cathedral depicts different architectural styles like Byzantine, early Christian and Romanesque styles. Also elements of gothic and baroque style (the ceiling). It also has a Chapel of the Martyrs. The chapel has 800 peoples skulls conservated in memory of their protest against Islamic religion.
After having a very rainy walk in the town students once again came back to school to work on the balloon project. And had their best time chatting and playing.
Day 4. Today we had the chance to watch a film "Terra di Mezzo" - a product of Edoardo Winspeare and E.Gianelli school collaboration. The "narrative documentary" film tells the story of cultural identity and cultural exploration, conveying emotions that help us better understand the Salento region.
Delegations visited the sea, the winery - Masseria L'Astore and finally celebrated the launch of the balloons students worked on for the last four days.
The project is coming to a wonderful close.
Day 5. Last day of an AR.AC.N.E. Italian mobility. A short trip around Gallipoli city was arranged. The city's name translates to "beautiful city", which once was a colony of Greece. It has 28 churches and some of them are created by the same architector who left his architectural heritage in Lecce city.
And of course - a rainy day is a must, when visiting Italian churches.
And so - the project has ended. To be continued...
