Year 4 Time Capsule Event

On Tuesday, Year 4 held their oracy endpoint event.

We had an excellent turn out of families who came to find out about their children's learning this half term.

Year 4 have been learning about the lives of children through history. They shared their ideas with family members and then created information about what it is like to be a child in 2022. We finished the event with the burying of the capsule in our grounds.

The plan is that each year 4 cohort will look back at what the pervious cohort of children put in and then reflect on this and add to it.

Birthday Treats

Birthdays are a time to celebrate and we know that our children like to bring in treats for their friends; however, some of these are becoming quite large and elaborate.

We are happy to give out treat-sized bags of sweets or chocolates at the end of the day but anything more than this (e.g. cake, party bags etc) should be saved for a party or given out away from school.

If you are bringing sweets or chocolates into school for birthday treats, please also check for nuts in the ingredients because we will not be able to give out any items which contain nuts due to severe allergies in school.

Healthy Eating and drinking

A reminder that lunchboxes should have a healthy mix of foods in them to ensure that children have the correct levels of energy to fuel their learning in the afternoon. There should not be sweets or chocolate bars in lunch boxes.

There should be no nuts in any food products which come into school - we have children with severe nut allergies who would require hospitalisation should they be near nut products.

Any drinks which are bought to school for drinking throughout the school day, should be water. The children are not allowed to drink squash or juice throughout the day.

This week Reception braved the elements and had a fabulous visit to the Houghton Hall Kitchen Garden. The volunteers were thoroughly impressed by the behaviour of Reception and the questions which they asked.
