Kia Ora,
We hope you are all warm and well in what is now our extended lockdown. Online learning will begin on Monday and we want to ensure that it is as easy and stress free for you and your tamariki as possible. We are aware that you as parents and caregivers will be wearing many hats at the moment so please reach out to us if you have any questions or needs. We are here to help.
The most important thing at the moment is to stay safe and well, so use our weekly timetable as a guide only and adapt it to make it work for you. If your whānau decides to do learning from home differently that is also absolutely fine.
We will share a weekly contract through Seesaw and also through your child’s Google Drive. This will have links to learning tasks for that week. It will include the following:
Google Drive: Term 3&4 folder
A reading task at your child’s reading level (text linked in the title)
A writing task (with your child encouraged to complete free writing if they finish this early)
Seesaw:
A maths challenge
Rākau at home challenges and tasks
We have set time aside for our online tools such as Maths-Whizz, XtraMath and Epic Reading. Our school’s new Home Learning website will also have links and the weekly timetable on it https://sites.google.com/titahibay.school.nz/homelearning/home. Check it out for extra learning.
A class Zoom session will be held on Wednesday at 11:30am.
As children complete tasks or if they need guidance, they can share me into a document through their google drive/google docs. Teachers will be available to mark work and help daily between 10:00am-11:00am and 12:00pm -1:00pm.
All students' passwords and logins will be emailed out individually to whānau as well as posted on Seesaw and shared to their Google drive. I will also send out a video tutorial of how to sign into Google and Gmail. A video on how to login to Google drive will be sent out via Seesaw.
SEESAW
For your child to be able to complete Seesaw tasks from home you need to download the Seesaw Class App (you will currently have the Seesaw Family App). Then you need to click ‘I’m a Student’ and you can find your child's code on their password doc.
We would love to see the different learning that is taking place at home so please share anything that is happening in your whare (house) with us via Seesaw.
As always, happy to help in any way. Keep in touch and stay happy and healthy.
Ngā mihi nui,
Rākau Teachers
