Acharya Shri Nagrajji D.Litt. was born on 24th September 1917 in an affluent Oswal business family in Sardarshahr (Churu - Rajasthan). His father was Shri Bhikam Chandji Daftry and mother was Dhapu Devi. Acharya ji took his Jainbhagawati Diksha at Jain Swt. Terapanthi Sangh from Acharyashri Kalugadi in the year 1934.
Acharyaji spent his time studying Sanskrit, Prakrit, Pali and English language. He wrote over 80 scriptures and his famous writing Agama and Tripitaka - A comparative study of Lord Mahavira andLordBuddhahasbeenreferredbytheintellectualworldfortheologicalstudies. It has even been included in the curriculum of various universities. This scripture received honorary D.Litt. from Kanpur University and Bhartiya Jnanpith “Murtidevi Award”.
In the year 1982 distressed by the rise of communal violence especially in Bengal, the foundation for Rashtriya Ekta Samity was laid by Acharyaji after discussions with scholars and religious leaders. This was formally inaugurated in New Delhi by the then Prime Minister – Smt. Indira Gandhi.
The other focus stream for Acharyaji was National Integration - Communal harmony and Co- existence of multiplereligions (sarvdharmsambhav). AcharyajicametoDelhiintheyear1947 andmetMahatmaGandhi. Acharyaji'sexemplarycontributionconstantlybroughthimintouch with National leaders from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi.
Distressed by violence in the name of religion and the rise of communalism, Acharyaji laid foundation of Rashtriya Ekta Samity and founded Acharya Nagrajji Spiritual Centre, with Delhi as his base for work. People of Delhi had a special place in his heart and till his last breath, as he guided the nation on a path to nonviolence. At the age of 88, he left his body for his spiritual journey on April 01, 2005.
