Tish Bateman
Educational Consultant
MA (Applied Drama: Teen Identity)
During my eleven years of teaching in the traditional school system and coaching young people, I noticed that there are young people falling through the cracks. I witnessed teens succumb to high anxiety and stress levels due to things like: the pressure of school, navigating the social environment, and neurodiversity.
These teens often have a constant sense of failure and feeling “not good enough”. I am uniquely positioned to catch them before they fall and help them realise they can live a life of peace, high productivity, and a feeling of confidence and success.
I founded this consulting practice to bridge the gap with a data-driven coaching process, educational support tailored to each student’s unique learning needs, and guidance for the parents and adults who care for their teens.
WHY I DO WHAT I DO
When a teenager experiences emotional pressure and loneliness, they don’t just fall behind in school, but also start withdrawing or acting out at home. This has an impact on the entire family structure, often including younger siblings. I believe that healing is possible through the right support systems.
My work is built on the philosophy of Growth and Grace, deeply rooted in my personal faith. I specialize in stepping into complex, highly stressful dynamics and replacing the confusion with a space where communication and transformation become possible.
Through my background in adolescent identity formation and supportive coaching models, my goal is to give your teenager the ultimate gift: independence, self-knowledge, and a deep understanding of their own strengths.
THE ANCHOR OF MY PRACTICE
At the heart of everything I do is a faith-driven commitment to the worth of every young person. My practice is guided by the truth that our children are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). This perspective ensures that every teen who walks through my door is seen not as a problem to be fixed, but as an individual of immense, inherent value.
THE EXPERTISE BEHIND THE ADVICE
You aren't just hiring a general coach. You are partnering with an educational specialist who deeply understands the teenage mind. My framework is built on a strong academic and practical foundation:
Master of Arts in Applied Drama and Education (University of Pretoria): Specialising specifically in Teen Identity. This advanced qualification gives me a deep understanding of how adolescents form their sense of self and build their own narratives.
Higher Certificate in Counselling: This foundational training equips me with the empathetic communication models, active listening frameworks, and relational tools required to connect and support my clients.
Neurodiverse Specialization: I have practical experience managing tailored learning strategies for students with diverse learning profiles, executive functioning roadblocks, and unique cognitive styles.
MY COMMITMENT TO YOUR FAMILY
I do not promise a generic, overnight solution, but I do base my work on objective data and tailored strategies that fit YOUR family.
When you or your teenager work with me, you can expect:
Complete honesty: If the GED or a specific career pathway isn't the right path for your teen's specific goals, I will tell you directly and help you pivot.
Active parent inclusion: I do not mentor your teen in a vacuum. We build communication loops together.
A safe, creative space: Your teen will be met exactly where they are—without the pressure of traditional expectations.
