Landscaping Course Syllabus

Course Description:
A course designed to help each student: learn how to perform landscaping skills that include: weedeating, spraying, painting athletic fields, cleaning flower beds, planting flowers, laying mulch, how to change oil, sharpen mower blades and other outdoor projects. Students will be provided with the proper instruction and safety materials (gloves, glasses, masks) needed to provide a safe learning environment.
Grading Policy:
2 daily grades will be given to each student: a.) Participation b.) Projects
Grading Categories:
- Projects 35%
- Daily Participation 35%
- Tests 30%
Participation Grading Policy:
**Doctor’s Note only allows for student being excused**
-Completed the Daily Project 40%
- Actively Engaged 40%
- Completed the daily project 20%
Parents/Guardians: I understand that the Landscaping class will consist of students learning how to perform skills that will involve the use of lawn equipment such as weedeaters, hedge trimmers, rakes, shovels, saws, aerosol paint cans, manual sod cutters, and other tools necessary to complete projects for the school and athletic fields.

PE Weight Training Course Syllabus

Course Description:
A course designed to help each student: improve muscular strength; gain knowledge and understanding
of weight training theory and practice; develop a personalized weight training program.
Grading Policy:
3 daily grades will be given to each student: a.) Dress Out b.) Participation c.) Proper Lifting
On days the students are maxing out, each student will receive a Test Grade as well.
Grading Categories:
- Completion of workout 25%
- Daily Participation 30%
- Daily Technique/Proper Lift 25%
- Max / Testing / Time 20%

18 Week Weight Lifting Pacing Guide:
Each student will begin the course with a BMI check, next the student will set goals: a.) Short term b.) Long term goals for weight lifting. The student will learn the proper way to lift each exercise, as well as, learn the proper way to spot a lifting partner. The student will know the difference between a Core Lift and an Auxiliary Lift, the student will do daily exercises to warm up the body and to cool down the body. Lastly, the student will have a weekly log to chart weight training progression.
