Mrs. Howard brings a wealth of professional experience and a deep commitment to student success to the Business and Finance department at Brighton High School. A proud local, she is a 1997 graduate of Covington High School.
Mrs. Howard teaches Business Management, Computer Science Foundations, Cybersecurity 1, Cybersecurity 2, and Principles of Office Management.
Mrs. Howard holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Organizational Management, and has further dedicated herself to education, earning a Master's degree, plus 30 graduate hours, in Education, and Computer Science endorsement training and certification.. She is also pursuing graduate hours towards a Cybersecurity certification, ensuring her curriculum remains current and relevant.
Before joining Brighton High, Mrs. Howard had a successful 10-year career with Edward Jones Investments, followed by a year in Business Banking at Regions Bank. This valuable industry experience allows her to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application.
In 2008, Mrs. Howard transitioned to teaching to be closer to her three young children, bringing her expertise to Brighton High School to teach Personal Finance and related subjects. She deeply values the intellectual stimulation of specialized subjects and the opportunity to mentor students as they prepare for adulthood. Mrs. Howard is dedicated to helping every student build confidence needed to navigate their futures successfully.
Ms. Smith teaches Computer Science Foundations, Coding 1, Coding 2, AP Computer Science Principles, & AP Computer Science A. With a passion for computer coding and hands-on learning, Ms. Smith strives to make every classroom experience engaging and meaningful.
Ms. Smith accquired a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Secondary Business/Technology and has further dedicated herself to education by earning a Master's degree in Education, and Computer Science endorsement training and certification.
Ms. Smith brings 15 years of educational experience and commitment to Brighton High School and is also a Tipton County graduate, Covington High School class of 2005.
Outside of school, Ms. Smith enjoys spending time with her family and friends, kickboxing, running, and lifting weights. These interests often find their way into lessons, helping students see real-world connections to what they learn in class. Ms. Smith believes that education is not just about mastering subjects—it’s about building confidence, creativity, and lifelong learning habits.
