Henry meets Eliza on the street one night when she attempts to sell him a flower. Professor Higgins bets that he can turn her into a lady by helping her learn to speak proper English rather than her cockney dialect. Eliza learns quickly and convinces many people of "her station," and those above her station that she belongs among them. Even though she accomplishes much, Henry never truly thinks of her as a lady and still treats her like dirt. She later abandons him to go make a new life with Freddy, a would be noble who became infatuated with her.
