All Performing Ensemble courses involve performances, both within and outside the school day as well as on and off campus. By enrolling in a Performing Ensemble course, it is understood that attendance is required at all performances throughout the school year.
Band/ Brass (Grades 6, 7, 8): In this performing ensemble band course, instruction will focus and specialize in brass and percussion instruments. Students will have had prior experience with a brass or percussion instrument, and will be selected to join this course. Students will be expected to participate in three evening performances as part of the course expectations.
Band/ Woodwind (Grades 6, 7, 8): In this performing ensemble band course, instruction will focus and specialize in woodwind instruments. Students will have had prior experience with a woodwind instrument, and will be selected to join this course. Students will be expected to participate in three evening performances as part of the course expectations.
Beginning Band (Grade 6 Only): In this performing ensemble band course, instruction will focus and specialize in band instruments. Students will have interest in but little or no experience with band instruments, and will be selected to join this course. Students will be expected to participate in two evening performances as part of the course expectations.

Students will have had prior experience and will be selected to join this course. Sections of this course will be differentiated by vocal range. Students will have had prior experience with an orchestral string instrument, and will be selected to join this course. Beginning Orchestra (Grade 6 Only): In this performing ensemble orchestra course, instruction will focus and specialize in orchestral instruments. Students will have interest in, but little or no experience with orchestral string instruments, and will be selected to join this course. Grade 6 (Year-Long): In this course, students will develop their musical skills through a vocal model. Sections of this course will be differentiated by vocal range. There are no performance expectations associated with this course; however, students are invited to perform with their peers.

Grade 7 (Semester long): In this course, students will develop their musical skills through a world-drumming and keyboarding model. There are no performance expectations associated with this course.
