What is Tie and Doll Teen Board?
Tie and Doll Teen Board is a youth volunteer program that provides a diverse group of students between the ages of 14 to 18 years the opportunity to represent and work with Tie and Doll to create special events and participate in community service projects.
Community service is a core component of this program. Throughout the year, board members will be committed to monthly community service projects. Tie and Doll is committed to mentoring youth to build their self-esteem and empower them to lead courageously, give generously, and enrich themselves culturally so that they can make intelligent choices and be positive influences in their respective communities.
Teen Board meetings are held on the 2nd Sunday of each month (August to May). Teen board members are required to attend at least 75% of scheduled teen board meetings. Teen board members will be required to participate in at least four (4) special events or community events. In addition, teen board members MUST attend at least two Tie and Doll workshops (if applicable) while serving on the board. If not, you will not be eligible for future years on the board.

Each criterion must be met to qualify for the teen board:
1. Complete an application online.
2. Write a personal bio about yourself. Tell us what extracurricular activities you are involved in, hobbies/interests, or whatever you feel like sharing with us. (500 words max). WARNING: WE WILL USE PLAGIARISM CHECKER SOFTWARE. PLAGIARISM AND THE USE OF ANY AI SOFTWARE IS AN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION.
3. Provide one letter of recommendation from individuals other than your parents (school counselors, teachers, coaches, previous employers, community/faith leaders, etc.). It cannot be your mother, father, guardian, or a family member. Tie and Doll Board of Directors and staff members are prohibited from writing letters of recommendation for any applicants. The letter of recommendation MUST be typed with a letterhead and include a wet or electronic signature and MUST be addressed to Tie and Doll Teen Board.
NOTE: Recommendation letters should be sent to teenboard@tieanddoll.org from the person writing the recommendation letter and not the applicant. The applicant's full name should be included in the subject of the e-mail. Any recommendation letters received from the applicant will result in an automatic disqualification.
4. Submit a current and clear photo of yourself.
5. Must be a student between the ages of 14 and 18 years old in the 9th -12th grade and in good standing at their school.
6. If selected as a member of the Tie and Doll Teen Board, you will be required to submit a non-refundable $35.00 membership fee.
NOTE: Incomplete and/or late application packets will not be reviewed for selection.
Judging will take place in early May 2025 by the Teen Board selection committee. The committee will review all applications and select students to join the 2025-2026 Teen Board. All applicants will be notified by Sunday, May 25, 2025. The selections by the committee are final.
