What's the joke about God and making plans? Well, I hope somebody is laughing because this year threw me for a loop. Whether it was illness, car accidents, weather, or any number of unpredictable events, we all had to learn to roll with whatever life had in store. In retrospect, I am reminded of the old adage, "The only thing constant is change."

If the chaos of this last school year taught me anything it's the importance of your community. When life takes a turn for the worst and you wonder how you'll ever make it through, never underestimate the power of asking for help. I am thankful that I have a community of people to offer to lighten my load. 

Despite the chaos, we still managed to produce some exciting artwork. There were tried and true favorites as well as a collection of firsts and experimental projects. In retrospect, apparently "chaos" was an inadvertent theme throughout the year as many projects asked students to create abstract visual problems only to revisit their work and somehow "make sense" of their oddities. 

Sometimes you just have to make it work.

Be "Home Grown and Custom Made," if you will.
