The course allows you the creative freedom to express your opinions, thoughts and feelings critically through the physical process of making Art. You will visit exciting Art galleries in London and sometimes abroad.
You will be encouraged to experiment with a wide range of 2D and digital 3D media and critically analyse the work of other artists to understand how their work relates to your own work.
Drawing, Painting, Collage, Printmaking, Sculpture/3D, Ceramics, Lens based media including Photography/ Filmmaking, Cartooning, Installation Art, Typography, Modelling/Carving, Illustrations, Text based Art and Art historical writing.

You will develop a large portfolio of work throughout the course containing artwork that will be linked to the themes set. You will also produce sketchbooks to show your ideas and how they develop, experiments with different materials and analysis and connections to other artists. There are two distinct units to complete as follows:
60% of the marks, including a controlled assessment (45 hours).
40% of the marks, 20 hours preparation time culminating in a 10-hour (controlled conditions) sustained focus. It consists of one broad-based thematic starting point. The paper will be available during January/February.
NB: There is an additional cost for this course as we take several trips to galleries/museums and studio charges for materials. This is expected to be £30 - £50 per term over the three-year period and is dependent on what specialist materials the students choose to use and where we visit.
