As readers and writers,, we will be writing a script based on the text., ‘Once upon a Raindrop’. Using this text, we will be creating an explanation text about water cycles. We will study the, language features, the vocabulary and organisation features. This will be followed by our narrative unit based on the book, 'The Iron Man'.

Within these sessions, we will develop our knowledge of features within each genre, whilst continuing to focus on spelling, punctuation and grammar.

As mathematicians, we will learn about: factor pairs; multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100; multiplying a 2 and 3 digit number by a 1 digit number; dividing a 2 and 3 digit number by 1 digit number; Units of measure; calculating the perimeter of rectangles, rectilinear shapes, regular polygons and polygons; mixed numbers and improper fractions; converting mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa.

We will: compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases; observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled, and measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C); and finally, identify the part played by evaporation and condensation in the water cycle and associate the rate of evaporation with temperature.

We are also continuing our drive to encourage more children to read for pleasure. Research shows a positive link between reading frequency and enjoyment and educational attainment. Please ensure that your child is engaging with 15-20 minutes reading everyday. It is really helpful if you can take some time to read with your child and ask questions about what they have read. This will help to support their developing comprehension skills. When your child finishes reading a book, they will have the opportunity to complete an Accelerated Reader quiz at school.
