Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year!
We hope you all had a fantastic Christmas break. The children settled back very well last week and were excited to share stories about their fun times at home.
The Parent Governor vote will be open from Wednesday this week. Details will be sent via email from the school office. We have 2 candidates: Andrew Bennett and Liam O'Neill. Please look out for the candidate biographies and how to vote.
You will have seen the message last week relating to House Team names. The poll will close tomorrow (Tuesday). We will announce the parent and pupil choice later this week.
Last week Dame Rachel de Souza, The Children's Commissioner, published a guide on the digital world for children. The guide was written with the direct involvement of children in England. It is a reflection of their views. Her office visited schools to speak to teenagers, and spoke to the Youth Ambassadors and Youth Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Panel to get their expertise on what works and what doesn’t work between parents or carers and children in the 21st Century.
What I wish my parents or carers knew: A guide for parents on managing children’s digital lives.
Attendance matters!
Most children should routinely have attendance rates of 97% or more. This is the equivalent of 6 days absence a year.
95% attendance sounds good, but means that your child is absent for one day a month
80% attendance is the same as having a day off every week.
If you take a two week holiday in term time your child’s attendance will automatically be reduced to less than 95% and this is without sickness.
Can we please ask that you only use your phones on the school grounds in an emergency. Please greet your children with a smile and talk to them about their day as you leave the school grounds. Thank you.
We’re delighted to share that the finishing touches have now been added to our school library. A huge thank you to parents and the PTA for funding these final improvements. The space has been transformed into a bright, welcoming environment for the children enjoy spending time in.

Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven (17th December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a German composer and pianist who remains one of the most admired composers in the history of Western music; his works rank among the most performed of the classical music repertoire and span the transition from the Classical period to the Romantic era in classical music. In his early period, he forged his craft whilst his middle period showed an individual development from the styles of Haydn and Mozart. During this time, he began to grow increasingly deaf. In his late period, he extended his innovations in musical form and expression.
