Autumn 2025
'Amazing Me & Seasons and Celebrations'
'Amazing Me & Seasons and Celebrations'
Literacy (inc.Read Write Inc.) Communication and Language
The children will be introduced to our school phonics programme, ‘Read, Write, Inc’. We will be learning the individual letter sounds and begin to blend and segment three sounds together for reading and spelling. Every week, we will also share a class story book and will learn a variety of nursery rhymes to help with language development.
Mathematical Development
This term we will be identifying different representations of 1, 2 and 3. We will also identify familiar patterns such as those on a dice and begin to recognise quantities without having to count (up to 5). We will also model using the language of more and less when comparing two amounts.
Understanding the World
Linked to our topic of ‘Amazing Me’, the children will think about what makes them unique and will learn about different family customs and routines. They will also have opportunities to share special times they have had with family and friends through circle time sessions. We will also learn about autumn and explore our outside area during woodland learning.
Physical Development
Our P.E focus will be experimenting with different ways of moving and beginning to developing greater confidence and control in large and small fine motor movements. During our Woodland Learning sessions, we will be thinking about how to use the area safely and sensibly whilst learning about the things we see as the seasons change.
PSED (personal, social & emotional development)
Our main focus for this half term is helping the children to feel happy and settled in their new classroom. They will be developing new friendships and learning how to share and take turns. Our SCARF topic this half term is ‘All About Me’. The children will think about what makes them special and consider all the people who are important to them.
Expressive Arts & Design
(Music, Art& Design, DT,
Role- play, small world etc.)
This half term, we will be modelling how to play in the home corner. We will also explore the different resources available in the art area and practise holding scissors and paintbrushes in the correct way.
In music, we will be exploring different instruments, singing nursery rhymes and action songs and beginning to share and perform in front of others.
