Dear Parents and Carers,
Well done to Yr 5 and 6 for their great performance of Macbeth, last week. They performed fantastically well and it showed the wealth of talent in upper key stage 2. Well done to all the children for being stars!
We have a busy end to the term. Yr 3 and Yr 6 have school trips today and tomorrow, Transition Day is on Thursday and the PTA Colour Run is next week. Please check the calendar for upcoming events so you don't miss them.
When our Yr 6 children go to their secondary schools on Thursday we have our own transition morning at school. The children will spend the morning (from 9:30am) with their teachers for September. It will be a chance for the children to ask questions about the new school year and familiarise themselves with their new classrooms. Children will come in as normal and will meet in the hall before being collected by their new teacher. Unfortunately, Miss Monk will not be here on Thursday and for this reason our current Reception class and Yr 1 class will be on a different day, which will be confirmed as soon as possible.
With warm weather forecast this week please remember to apply sun cream on your child before they come into school and ensure they have a sun hat/cap and a water bottle.
As we head towards the End of Term, please check in the lost property pile which is in the school vestibule. We still have a large amount of unnamed clothing, which if not claimed before the last week, will be donated to the PTA or placed in our clothing recycling bin. Please remember to name your child's belongings so they can be returned directly, named items will never end up in the lost property box!
Changes to Waste Disposal – Packed Lunch Waste
Due to new government legislation around how organisations, including schools, dispose of waste, all schools are now required to separate and pay for the removal of food waste and mixed dry recycling. This means the more waste we produce, the more it will cost us to remove – and that includes items left over from packed lunches from home. From September, to help reduce our waste (and keep costs down so we can prioritise spending on teaching and learning), we are asking that all children bring home any uneaten food, packaging and containers from their packed lunch. More information about this will be shared with you by e-mail on Thursday 17th July.

We are taking part in the National Read-Aloud Challenge 2025, powered by Fonetti
Throughout the challenge, children engage in independent reading using Fonetti, the read-aloud app. The goal is to enhance reading skills during the summer break, aiming to prevent the typical 'summer slump' while fostering a genuine passion for reading.
During the challenge period, you will receive weekly updates on the children's reading progress.
They will earn certificates for reaching the various milestones and have the opportunity to compete on national leaderboard alongside children both locally and nationally.
All you need to do is set up profiles using our school's custom
URL or by scanning the QR code above and your child(ren) will be ready to take part in this exciting challenge as soon as it opens on the lst July.
During the challenge, our pupils will join the school team aiming to read as many books as possible.
