Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back. We hope the children had a lovely half term and are feeling rested and ready to return.
Thank you for all your support before half term during our Ofsted Inspection. We really appreciated all the kind words and messages we received during the 2 days. At this time, we are unable to comment on the inspection report, however, over the next few weeks we will be able to share the findings: We appreciate your patience whilst we wait for the report to be published.
This week our Yr 6 house captains will be selling poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion. It would be great if you could support us in remembering and honouring those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom. Alongside poppies, there will also be reflectors, wrist and snap bands available. Please look out for further information about prices.
Christmas card competition - Theme: My Favourite Things About Christmas
Primary school children across Hertford and Stortford are invited to showcase their creativity this festive season by entering a Christmas card competition. Open to children aged 3-11, this wonderful initiative will give young artists a chance to design a card that could be sent to some of the most important figures in the Country.
The winning card will be sent to the Prime Minister, His Majesty The King, and to communities across the Hertford and Stortford constituency. It’s a unique opportunity for local children to contribute to the holiday cheer in a truly special way.
All types of media are welcome, from crayons and markers to paint and pens. The only rule is to have fun and let those creative ideas flow! Entrants must mark their name, school, and year group on the back of the card or include it with their entry.
If you want to enter, give your design to Mrs Lilley by Friday 8th November or email: Josh.Dean.MP@parliament.uk or post: FAO Josh Dean, Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London SW1A 0AA. All entries must be received by 10th November

There are two age categories: 5-7 and 8-11 year-olds. All children need to do is write a story they would love to read in 500 Words or less. The stories will be judged on: Characterisation, Plot, Originality, Language and Enjoyment.
It's all about creativity - spelling, punctuation and grammar are not marked!

As part of next week's Anti-Bullying Week we will wear odd socks to school on Tuesday 12th November. This is an opportunity for everyone to express themselves and celebrate their individuality. During the week, we will also be signing our annual pledge
Thorn Grove Pledge
We make a commitment to show kindness and respect to everyone as we are all equal, no matter our faith,
our disability, our race, our ethnicity or our heritage.
It is our responsibility to ensure everyone is welcome.
We have the courage not to be a bystander whenever we see prejudice or discrimination. Silence is never an option.
