Dear Parents and Carers,
It is hard to believe we have reached the end of another term. This term has been extremely busy and it is always good to stop, take stock and then prepare to go again. Like at Christmas, the children need some time away from school so that they can rest, relax and play! This helps them maintain their focus in their learning throughout the year.
It has been great to see so many children represent the school this term. We have sent teams to sporting events, including football, netball and multisport. Some of our children also joined other local schools at Bishop's Stortford College as part of the Bishop's Stortford Pupil Voice Network (see below). All the children who have represented the school have been a credit to themselves and Thorn Grove.
We hope that you have enjoyed the opportunities where you have been able to come in to school to join your child. In the Summer Term there will be further chances to visit the school to see the children learning. Look out for more details when we come back in April.
We have enjoyed working with you to improve the education of your children. We value your comments and appreciate you taking time out to raise any issues or concerns that you may have. We hope that our collaboration with yourselves will continue to strengthen as the year progresses.
Congratulations to this term’s book prize winners:

Also, a big thank you to all the PTA members for their continued commitment and hard work to raise funds for the school. They truly make a difference to the school, which has a positive impact for all the children.
During the Summer Term, due to some movement on the Governor Board, a parent governor vacancy will be available. If you are interested and would like to find out more please speak to Mr Luck or contact our Chair of Governors, Anne Hummersone, at Chair@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk when we return after the Easter break.
On behalf all of the staff and governors can I wish you all a lovely Easter. Enjoy the quality time you get to spend with your children. Let’s hope the sun shines and you can enjoy plenty of days out. We look forward to welcoming all the children back on Tuesday 22nd April.
Mr Luck
On behalf of the Governing Board, we would like to celebrate another successful term at Thorn Grove. As I am sure you are aware, it's a financially challenging time for schools. Governors work closely with the school to ensure every penny spent, benefits the children and the school. Along with overseeing the finances, we perform safeguarding, heath and safety checks and school visits. We enjoy seeing the school in action and supporting the excellent, dedicated staff. We wish everyone a restful Easter break!
Anne Hummersone (Chair of Governors)
Eleni, Etna, Iman, Jokubas, Riley and William had the fantastic opportunity to represent our school at the annual Bishop's Stortford Pupil Voice Network (BSPVN) Conference held at Bishop’s Stortford College. Several local schools met to discuss the important theme of 'Each and Every Voice Matters'. The event provided a platform for students to engage with their peers and share ideas about promoting inclusivity and diversity, emphasising the value of every individual’s voice and how we, as a community, can ensure everyone feels heard.
One of the highlights of the conference was the BSPVN Community Award, where schools had the chance to showcase a community project. Thorn Grove presented how we celebrate diversity within the school, focusing on how we embrace cultural differences and promote a diverse range of wildlife in and around our school grounds. Thorn Grove were runners-up in this competition, with Bishops Stortford High School taking first place. The children were thrilled that Thorn Grove was recognised for its efforts.
This year the PTA are trialling a new way for volunteers to sign up. Class representatives will be share more information after the Easter Break.
